What is the age limit?
There is no age limit. We welcome kids of all ages, especially adults
who are kids at heart! Lots of parents like to capture their
children's and infant's prints on pottery. These make great gifts
for family and friends! We do ask that all children under the age of 13 be
supervised.
Paints are non-toxic, safe for painting on skin and easy to
wash off!

I don't have any artistic ability,
will I have fun at your Studio?
We have helpful staff to assist you and lots of tools such as stencils to
trace and books with pictures. Check out our
CLASSES!
What does it cost to make something at Studio 12?
Our prices are all inclusive, this means
that the prices marked on the
pottery and mosaics
include the cost of all materials including firing.
Prices vary depending on the size of the pottery. There are a lot of projects to choose from in the $15.00
to $35.00 price range.
How long does it take to do a project at Studio 12?
With young children it depends on their attention span, but we find that the
average person spends about an hour and a half painting one piece of pottery and
about the same time or less to do a mosaic. You are
welcome to take your piece home with you and bring it back the next day to
finish, we have take home kits available which comes complete with brushes and colors so
you can paint anywhere!
Do we need reservations?
If you have a group of 8 or more then we do recommend reservations. On
rainy days it is a good ideal to come early or to call ahead to reserve a time
slot.
Are the dishes safe to eat from?
After the pieces have been fired they are completely safe to eat from. The
under-glaze colors and glazes are non-toxic.
Are the dishes microwave and dishwasher safe?
Yes, All our pottery is dishwasher and microwave safe. We recommend hand
washing.
Can I take my pottery home that day?
No. All ceramic and glass projects must be fired in the kiln. This process takes about two -three days.
Mosaics can be taken home the same day.
What if I am leaving town before my pottery is done with firing?
We are happy to ship via priority mail. The shipping prices
depends on the cost of the pottery and does include insurance.
What is Bisque pottery and Under-glazes?
Bisque is the term used to refer to pottery that is used in contemporary ceramic studios,
as opposed to greenware which is the kind of pottery you would see on a potters
wheel, before it was fired. Bisque is white since it has been fired
once to prepare it for the under-glaze colors.
Under-Glazes are the "paints" used to decorate the pottery. For accuracy we
refer to these colors as under-glazes since they are distinct from water color
or oil paints that painters use.
